LZPU Leads the Way in Establishing Cooperation with Indonesia
From News Center (Text by Zhang Jinyezi from the International Exchange Department (School of International Education), Photo by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia) To further implement the important consensus of leaders of China and Indonesia on strengthening cooperation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and promote deeper and more solid cooperation between the two countries, Qu Fan, Vice President of Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) and a representative of the Forum Direktur Politeknik Negeri se-Indonesia (FDPNI) signed an agreement on deepening cooperation in TVET between the two countries on the morning of November 28. The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Lan Tianli, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Wang Lutong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Indonesia, and Minister Pratikno and Deputy Minister Warsito of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia.
According to the cooperation agreement, both parties will further strengthen the development of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance (hereinafter referred to as "the Alliance"). The Alliance serves as a platform to organize and implement the Indonesia-China Vocational Education Enhancement Program (ICVEEP) and launch the "1+10+100+1,000" China-Indonesia TVET cooperation program. According to the program, in the next five years, assistance will be provided for Indonesian polytechnic institutes to establish a new major in "New Energy Vehicle Technology", collaboratively hold skill competitions across 10 majors, train 100 Indonesian teachers in China, and recruit 1,000 Indonesian students to study in China. Additionally, "3+1" and "4+2" cooperative undergraduate and master education programs will be launched, providing an opportunity for students from Chinese and Indonesian vocational colleges to pursue advanced education.
Before the signing, the Guangxi delegation led by Chairman Lan Tianli had talks with Ambassador Wang Lutong and Minister Pratikno. The two parties conducted in-depth discussions on strengthening practical cooperation in areas such as TVET and cultural exchanges and reached a consensus.
It is reported that with the support of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China, and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia, in September 2023, LZPU initiated the establishment of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance, along with LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. and Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya. Approved by the CEAIE, the Alliance has been included in the management framework of the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Federation. Since the establishment of the Alliance, LZPU has organized members of the Alliance to carry out numerous important cooperation and exchange activities, facilitated the signing of contracts between 18 pairs of Chinese and Indonesian colleges, completed training for about 31 Indonesian teachers, and launched a standard upgrading project for manufacturing majors. With its pragmatic working style, the Alliance has attracted a growing number of colleges and enterprises from China and Indonesia, quickly increasing its membership to 147.
LZPU is "going global" in collaboration with businesses. It established the China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship with college and business partners, fostering a good reputation and gaining popularity in terms of international industry-education integration in Indonesia. It established an alliance by integrating the resources of Chinese and Indonesian governments, colleges, industries, and enterprises, building a cooperation platform for more Chinese-funded enterprises and vocational colleges. LZPU has successfully evolved from "leveraging external resources to go global" to "building independent capacity to go global" and finally to "forming synergy to go global", contributing typical practical cases of "great achievements" through "small actions" to the international development and continuous expansion of the influence of China's TVET.
